The Pas Community Circle
The Pas lies across the Saskatchewan River from the Opaskwayak Cree Nation. The Pas, Opaskwayak Cree Nation and the Rural Municipality of Kelsey have a combined population of about 15,000 people. Approximately 50% of the population are of Aboriginal ancestry. Youth represent 45% of the population. The paper and lumber mill are the major employers; however, other industries include agriculture, forestry, fishing, and transportation. The Pas Community Circle is represented by Kelsey School Division. The Pas Community Circle joined the VOICE Research Project in 2012. It currently has two success pathways underway: Mobile Technology and the At-Risk Learner and Community Engagement.
